Market-rate, or unregulated, rentals still provide New Yorkers with important protections, including laws that prevent unlawful evictions and the Housing Maintenance Code, which ensures safe and decent living conditions. The recently enacted Good Cause Eviction Law further enhances protections for some tenants. Learn your rights, clear up misconceptions, and better understand tenant and landlord responsibilities.
