See what's ahead for
@NYCschools in November! Highlights this month include:
  •  Parent-Teacher Conferences
  •  Native American Heritage Month
  •  Election Day
  •  Veteran's Day
  • Thanksgiving Recess And more!

As we kick off the new month, it’s a great time for us to take a look at what’s happening in the weeks ahead across NYC public schools!

This month, City families can look forward to this fall’s second round of parent-teacher conferences, as well as Election Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving Recess. We’ll also be celebrating Native American Heritage Month throughout November, and our middle and high school applications will remain open through December 1, 2022, for our families seeking seats in fall 2023.

Beyond our schools, let’s not forget that November marks the end of Daylight Savings Time until spring 2023—so make sure all your clocks “fall back” an hour on Sunday, November 6, at 2:00 a.m.!

So while we all reckon with Mariah Carey’s annual return to pop cultural dominance, let’s take a look and see what else is in store for City schools in The Month Ahead, courtesy of our official NYC Public Schools Calendar.

Some notes about this month’s schedule:

November is Native American Heritage Month

Throughout the month, the NYC Department of Education will highlight books, events, historical figures, and learning resources in support of Indigenous heritage. Join our schools and help us celebrate Native American history and heritage all month long!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Beginning November 3, City public schools will host this fall’s second round of Parent-Teacher Conferences. November’s conferences provide families and teachers with an opportunity to discuss their children’s progress up till this point in the school year. Families should expect this month’s conferences to be more in-depth than the introductory conferences held by schools back in September.

November’s conferences will be held virtually on November 3, 9, 17, and 18. Afternoon conferences can be scheduled between 12:00 – 3:30 p.m., while evening conferences can be scheduled between 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Please speak with your school’s parent coordinator for more details about your school’s conference schedule this month, and check your email to see if teachers have reached out to you to schedule a conference time.

Please note that individual schools’ conference dates might differ from the dates listed above; in these cases, your child’s teacher will work with you to schedule your conference.
